Mrs. Lewis passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Vista Springs Quail Highlands in Concord Township.

Born October 5, 1926 in Cleveland, she has lived in Mentor for the past 50 plus years.

She was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church and was an avid camper, hiker and bridge player.

She was an active member of the Madhatter’s Canoe Club for many years. She also loved to read and garden. Jean was a member of numerous book clubs and garden clubs.

The buyers of her long-time home describer her back yard as an “enchanted forest.” Most important of all, she was a member of the Best Mom’s In America Club, dedicating many years of her life to properly raising her children.

Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of the former Western Reserve University and was employed as a full-time mom.
She also taught high school in the Orange Village School System.

Survivors are her children, Richard (Karen) Lewis of Portland, OR; Barbara (Arthur) Kittell of Sisters, OR; Greg (Sandra) Lewis of Sunset, SC and Jim (Cindy) Lewis of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Katie; Margaret (and her husband, Vince); Jon (and his wife, Elizabeth), Ben, Krystal (and her husband, Jason), Zachary (and his wife, Monica), Isabella and Patrick; great-grandchildren, Wade, Lake and baby Lewis on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Albert E. Lewis on November 11, 2005. Her parents, Reuben and Lillian (Dunbar) Grierson and siblings William and Keith are also deceased.

Final resting place will be in Heaven, but her remains will be interred at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.

Mrs. Lewis would not want flowers or donations; but for those who insist, the family encourages contributions to Hospice of the Western Reserve, Inc., PO Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44192-0002 or online at www.hospicewr.org/donate.
